Langtang trek is one of the best treks to visit with calm and scenic mountains as well as pilgrimage holy lake with a Tamang lifestyle. This 14 days trek takes the road less traveled to the Langtang-Gosainkunda region of Tamang valleys close to the Tibetan border.The route offers the opportunity to explore traditional villages, climb small peaks and visit stunning glaciers at comfortable elevations.
During your trek you'll visit holy Gosainkunda Lake of Hindu legend and scenery of a high mountain pass with stunning views into Tibet. You'll meet Hindu pilgrims and holy men and explore old monastries. Yak cheese factory is also an interesting point to visit. As you proceed forward through bamboo forests you'll glimpse Langur monkeys and Red Pandas and travel past pretty villages and terraced fields, snow capped peaks and glaciers as you follow quiet wilderness trails and enjoy stunning panoramas of Ganesh Himal, the Annapurna region on this excellent Himalayan trek.
Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu Airport our staff welcomes you and assists to transfer in your hotel in Kathmandu. At the evening you'll transfer for welcome dinner in one of the typical Nepalese restaurant with the cultural & musical programs in the heart of Kathmandu and briefing about your trip and overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation (1,300m/4,264 ft)
After breakfast the day will start to our guided trip to cultural world heritage sites in Kathmandu valley, including visits to the pilgrimage sites of Hindus Pashupatinath temple, the world biggest Bouddhanath Stupa, visit Swoyambhunath Stupa also known as monkey temple and historical Kathmandu Durbar Square with temple, unique architectures and Kumari (living goddess) in central Kathmandu. Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,420m/4,658ft), 8-9 hrs drive
This day after breakfast we drive on a northern highway that twists and climbs over mountain ridges to the Trishuil valley. The journey will take 7-8 hours through picturesque landscapes, mountain scenery and local villages. On the way we have magnificent views of Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and Mt Kerung of Tibet. Overnight relax at a local teahouse in Syabrubesi.
Day 04: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,675ft), 5-6 hrs walk
After breakfast we start to walk own our pace and the trail ascends for around two hours through the forest followed by a climb of about an hour to reach Bamboo village (1,850m/6,068ft) where we stop for hot lunch. This forested path with well stabilized trails and following the up stream and can be seen birds life around the bushes. Bee hives hanging on a cliff are another attraction for the visitors. From here we again steeply climb through the bamboo forest to reach the Lama Hotel for overnight.
Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,480m/11,415ft), 5-6 hrs walks
Today we have a pleasant walk and follow the trail through rhododendron and pine forest for around three hours to reach Ghora Tabela where we stop for lunch. The surrounding area is dense wild habitat and many small babblers with lot of herbal can be found here. After lunch we walk another three hours on the scenic trail takes us to Langtang village where we stop for the evening.
Day 06: Langtang village to Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft), 3-4 hrs walk
After breakfast this morning we leave the village and start our trek leisurely for around three to four hours to visit Kyanjing Gompa. From here we have beautiful views of Mt Ganchempo and Langtang Lirung. Evening we are free for visiting the surrounding areas like Yak cheese Factory, Monastery and local houses.
Day 07: Rest dat at Kyanjin Gompa
Today you may have full day of rest and relaxation at the surrounding area. You can enjoy the views or explore the local area or visit some highlights of Cherku-ri (4984 meters), glacier walk or Langshisha kharka depends on your fitness and interest.
Day 08: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,675ft), 6-7 hrs walk
This morning we retrace our steps somewhat as we head back from the Gompa. We have an easy down hill and pleasant walk through the rhododendron forest to Lama Hotel where we rest for the night before continuing our journey next day for the Thulo Syabru village.
Day 09: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru Village (1,900m/6,232ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Today our trail leads again through bamboo & rhododendron forest where we may see the local wild boar as well as other animal and birds on the route to Thulo Syabru. En route we have marvelous and close-up view of Ganesh Himal. Firstly easy down hill follows the river bank but last part steeply up hill for couple of hours to get to the village at Thulo Syabru.
Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3330m/10,922ft), 4-5 hrs walk
Today we walk around 4-5 hours through dense forest of pine and rhododendron to reach Sing Gompa (Chandan Bari) which is our overnight spot. The trail from here is mostly uphill with typically Himalayan terrain and last few hours remaining forested with open areas giving excellent views when looking back the way we have come. After arrival in hotel refreshed and enjoy visiting cheese factory as well as terrain forested landscape.
Day 11: Sing Gompa to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m/14,366ft), 4-5 hrs walk
Today we follow a wonderful trail to reach at holy Gosainkunda Lake passing through Cholagpati and Lauribinayak. This area is the homeland of the Tamangs and Bhotias and even a short time spent here provides an insight into their rural mountain lifestyles and the cultural contrasts between Hindu and Buddhist villages. Evening we are able to simply relax or take a stroll around the lake and surrounding area.
Day 12: Gosainkunda to Dhunche. (7-8 hrs walks)
Today after breakfast we trek to long down hill come to Sing Gompa for the lunch through the same way back and after lunch at Sing Gompa we steeply trek downhill through the pine and rhododendron forest and some bamboo bushes. When we reach at stream then cross the river and walk to down stream and an hour gently up hill through the farm field will reach at District headquarter of Rasuwa called Dhunche for the overnight at remaining time stroll around the area.
Day 13: Drive back to Kathmandu.
Today, we drive back to Kathmandu via same way takes 6-7 hours to get in Kathmandu valley. Arrival in Kathmandu guide will transfer to the hotel and rest of the time simply relax at the hotel or explore the local area and overnight at hotel.
Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu
today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives for you until your departure flight/drive or to commence any extra trips or activities you may have booked with us. If departing, you'll be transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your onwards destination.
